Tips for choosing an installer
- Is the Installer accredited by the Clean Energy Council?
- What is the company's background? What experience and technical expertise do they have to draw on? Check out their website and always ask for references or case studies on past projects/installations.
- Do they cover your area? Will there be an extra call out fee?
- Always get more than one quote.
- Is the quoted price competitive and reasonable compared to other quotations or advertised prices you may have seen?
- Read the fine print of any contract to make sure you get what you think you are paying for.
- Do you have a friend, co-worker or neighbour with a solar system? Try to get a recommendation from someone you know and trust.
- Did they agree to do a site visit? (Every home is unique and requires a site visit and project plan prior to commencing the installation.)
- Do you trust that the company has the capabilities to deliver a quality installation in a timely fashion, has a complete understanding of the compliance requirements and will deliver the support service you may require in the following years?
- Do you feel comfortable that they explained all the complexities of the Federal Government's Solar Credits, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECS) and pricing structures to your satisfaction?
